Summer School Overview
possibly funded for African participants, open to international students
July 14-24 (10 days) 2024, Nairobi, Kenya
mornings and afternoons split into lectures, group activities, and coding projects

Program
Participants will gain insights into the fundamentals and intricacies of
deep learning and advanced architectures for computer vision,
3D geometry and other mathematical groundwork,
self-supervised learning and foundational vision models (VLMs),
scene understanding and applications to robotics, social, medical, etc.
ethics and pressing issues related to bias, fairness, and diversity,
generative models and conditional image synthesis.
The daily agenda includes lectures and practices run by renowned and rising international speakers from Africa and across the world:
A few keynote talks will also allow an in-depth exploration of the most advanced aspects of computer vision.
Secondary Objectives
coaching students on educational leadership, to place seeds for future generations
uniting students within Africa and connecting them with international students and mentors
discussion among faculty especially in African institutions on how to improve computer vision education in Africa
